\nAs the winning students were sitting for the SPM examination, the Merit Award for SMK Chini Timur was received on their behalf by their teacher, Puan Farhanah.<\/p>\n

The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) held the \u201c2025 Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Competition Prize Giving Ceremony\u201d on 6th December 2025. The ceremony was graced by ACCCIM President Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, and attended by ACCCIM Secretary-General Dato\u2019 Jeffery Tan, Chairman of the ACCCIM STEM Working Committee Dato\u2019 Prof. Ir. Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, committee members, and representatives of the judging panel. Together, they witnessed the outstanding achievements of participating students.<\/p>\n

Promoting Commercialisation Awareness and Strengthening Industry\u2013Academia Linkages<\/p>\n

In his speech, Datuk Ng Yih Pyng emphasised that scientific and technological innovation is the key driving force of Malaysia\u2019s future economic development, while STEM education serves as an essential foundation for enhancing scientific literacy and nurturing the next generation of technological talent.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that innovation does not begin in laboratories, but in curiosity, courage to experiment, and continuous exploration. Although many of the students\u2019 projects are still at prototype stage, they represent the early seeds of future engineers, scientists, and technology entrepreneurs. Even failures, he noted, form an important part of the learning and innovation journey.<\/p>\n

Datuk Ng reiterated ACCCIM\u2019s commitment to continuing its role as both a \u201cseed planter\u201d and \u201cplatform builder.\u201d He stressed that the ACCCIM National STI Competition not only encourages students to understand scientific principles, but also gives them the opportunity to think about how their ideas can be transformed into commercially viable solutions. Over the years, the competition has attracted the attention of industry players and potential investors, allowing students to gain real-world exposure and broaden their horizons.<\/p>\n

Breakthrough Achievement from a Rural School: A Key Highlight of This Year\u2019s Competition<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s competition attracted 117 teams nationwide, with a total of 331 student participants\u2014reflecting the strong enthusiasm of Malaysian youth toward science and technology. The participating projects spanned various fields including physics, chemistry, information engineering, artificial intelligence, and life sciences, demonstrating students\u2019 solid scientific foundations, creativity, and cross-disciplinary thinking.<\/p>\n

A major highlight of this year\u2019s event was the remarkable performance by the team from SMK Chini Timur, located within the FELDA settlement of Pekan. Despite limited resources compared to urban schools, the students stood out with their creativity, perseverance, and commitment, earning a Merit Award \u2014 an achievement truly worthy of recognition. ACCCIM commends their curiosity, innovative spirit, and strong potential.<\/p>\n
