Centennial History of ACCCIM

Throughout the past century, ACCCIM has remained steadfast in its mission and contributions to the business community. When it was first founded in 1921, it represented Chinese merchants in petitioning the British colonial government for assistance to overcome trade recession and to address the plight of unemployed Chinese workers caused by the collapse of rubber prices. During World War II, ACCCIM mobilised fundraising to support China and Britain, and in the post-war period, it continued its mission to revive commerce while actively participating in the independence movement of Malaya.

Over the decades, ACCCIM has persistently played a constructive role in every stage of the nation’s economic development, working closely with the government to respond to changing times and to promote Malaysia’s growth. ACCCIM has also extended its network across ASEAN, forged closer ties with China, and connected with the world. In 2021, to commemorate its centennial anniversary, ACCCIM published the ACCCIM Centennial History Commerative Edition, documenting its remarkable century-long journey.
