The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR) today, paving the way for a closer relationship between the two organisations, to raise awareness and use of ADR, and ultimately, to promote commerce, industry, primary industries and other economic activities in Malaysia and further abroad.
The MoU aims at jointly enhancing the ADR forums in Malaysia, exchanging ideas, learning about the developments of the ADR forums, and providing promotional support for each organization’s conferences and events. This MoU will also reinforce the influence of both institutions within the legal, trade and business fraternity. The MoU was sealed by Dato’ Low Kian Chuan, President of the ACCCIM and Datuk Professor Sundra Rajoo, AIADR President during the Virtual Signing Ceremony of MoU between AIADR and ACCCIM this morning.
Dato’ Low Kian Chuan said, the ACCCIM has been stepping up its efforts to raise awareness and use of ADR, as well as its benefits in resolving commercial disputes among the wider populace. This MoU provides for continued strengthening of future cooperation between the ACCCIM and AIADR in achieving shared objective of serving the interest of their members.
Datuk Prof Sundra Rajoo said that as AIADR holds the objective of promoting global trade and deliver excellence in alternative dispute resolution forums, AIADR believes that dispute settlement serves an indispensable role in improving economic development and cooperation. This cooperation between AIADR and ACCCIM will advance the ADR forums which will ultimately achieves the goal of promoting commerce, industry, primary industries and other economic activities in Malaysia and further abroad.
ACCCIM representatives who presented at the virtual signing ceremony were Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, Deputy President; Dato’ Tan Tian Meng, Secretary-General; Mr. Michael Chai, Deputy Secretary-General I; and Dato’ Jonathan Chai and Mr. Tan Kar Peng who are the Deputy Chairmen of Legal Affairs Committee. AIADR representatives included three of its Vice Presidents – Dato’ Quek Ngee Meng, Dr. Hu Li, and Dr. Christopher Malcolm; as well as Mr. Man Sing Yeung its Honorary Secretary.
