Background
Formerly known as The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce of British Malaya (herein after refers as ACCCBM), The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) was founded on 2nd July 1921. The first conference was held at the Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce (now the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry), chaired by Lim Eu Toh JP, President of the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Nine chambers of commerce from various states and areas were invited to formulate constructive measures to address the trade depression and financial stringency encountered during that period. Between its founding and the outbreak of World War II, ACCCIM held 19 coferences and submitted numerous memorandums and proposals to the British Colonial government.
After World War II, ACCCIM held its first reinstated conference on 23rd February 1947 at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, chaired by Tun H. S. Lee. Since then, ACCCIM has been led by 14 Presidents, and today it is under the leadership of its 15th President, Datuk Ng Yih Pyng.

Centennial History of ACCCIM
Throughout the past century, ACCCIM has remained steadfast in its mission and contributions to the business community. When it was first founded in 1921, it represented Chinese merchants in petitioning the British colonial government for assistance to overcome trade recession and to address the plight of unemployed Chinese workers caused by the collapse of rubber prices. During World War II, ACCCIM mobilised fundraising to support China and Britain, and in the post-war period, it continued its mission to revive commerce while actively participating in the independence movement of Malaya.
Over the decades, ACCCIM has persistently played a constructive role in every stage of the nation’s economic development, working closely with the government to respond to changing times and to promote Malaysia’s growth. ACCCIM has also extended its network across ASEAN, forged closer ties with China, and connected with the world. In 2021, to commemorate its centennial anniversary, ACCCIM published the ACCCIM Centennial History Commerative Edition, documenting its remarkable century-long journey.
